Department of Economics is one of the oldest departments in Kalahandi University. It offers three years UG Honors, two years PG degree and PhD. In UG and PG programme, a series of theoretical courses are offered to understand the complex social reality and challenges of development by focusing on the interlinkage between individual behavior and well-being, macroeconomic aggregate, international relation, institutional arrangement, and institutional structure of the society. This department also provides handholding experience in analyzing big data sources like NSSO and NFHS using statistical software like SPSS and STATA for the skill enhancement of the students. The courses aim to provide a sound theoretical grounding along with practical skill enhancement tools and techniques in economics which will help the students to explore beyond the discipline and undertake independent academic research with excellency.
