P.G. Department of English offers degrees at BA, MA and PhD levels and oversees undergraduate teaching at the 51 degree colleges which are affiliated to Kalahandi University. Peopled with experienced faculties having expertise in different areas of English Studies like, Contemporary Literary Theories, Linguistic Studies, Classical Literature, Indian English Literature, Translation Studies, Aesthetics Studies, the department provides intensive mentoring to the students both in and beyond the classroom. The aim is to familiarize students with Indian-Odia-cultural and intellectual heritage in order to provide them with a balanced viewpoint when approaching predominantly Western literary, theoretical and critical texts. We also offer courses in AECC-English, SEC-II Communicative English and Generic Elective in English to students of other departments of the University. Ongoing lectures by invited speakers from India and abroad, film screening, seminar and conference on interdisciplinary themes are part of academic calendar throughout the year.
